The Recycled Accordion Book
February 23, 2016
Studio Place Arts (SPA)
201 North Main Street
Note: This workshop is for teens, ages 13 – 17.
You don’t have to spend lots of money on supplies to make a book – your recycle bin offers lots of creative possibilities! In this workshop, we will create an accordion book using recycled papers, books, and other found materials. This structure can stand up and be stretched out, making it perfect for display.
Participants are encouraged to bring their own recycled materials to include in their work. Additional materials will be available for use during the class.
In this workshop, each participant will leave the class with a completed book and a basic knowledge of bookbinding techniques. You will receive a detailed handout and resource list for all materials used.
No previous experience is required – this is a great class for a beginner.
Materials fee: $7.00 (There is a considerable amount of labor used in preparing the recycled materials for the workshop.)
Supplies: Awl, bonefolder, ruler, X-Acto knife or utility knife, cutting mat, scissors, pencil, glue brush, glue stick.
Note: Bring the supplies if you have them – don’t feel obligated to buy anything. I’ll have extras available.
