Book Art Gives Back

Book Art Gives Back logoI recently discovered that the College Book Art Association (CBAA) has developed an interesting new community initiative – Book Art Gives Back

From their website:

Book Art Gives Back is a day for the book art community to come together to honor the communities in which we live and work, while doing activities that provide support where it is needed.

I think it’s a fabulous idea!

The date for the event is Saturday April 16, 2016 and the theme is One Day for Books. Community events might include working with children in schools, creating journals with prison inmates, hosting workshops with underserved populations – the possibilities are endless.

The CBAA will be listing scheduled events on their website and plans to utilize social media (Twitter, Facebook, blogging) to engage the public.

One thing I’m not clear on is whether or not this event is limited to CBAA members. Nevertheless, it’s a wonderful opportunity for all book artists to think about how they can engage others with their work.

If you’re interested in learning more about the initiative, please contact the CBAA at programs@collegebookarts.org.

So what do you think? I'd love to know!
