Here comes the 2nd Annual Book Arts Improv!

Book Arts Improv logo

It’s only two days until the 2nd Annual Book Arts Improv!

Starting next week, I will enter into a four-week stretch of improvisational bookmaking. Depending on the content and complexity of the book, an edition of three or more will be created each week.

Here’s how it will work:

  • Sunday: I’ll post a call for specific suggestions that will be incorporated into a handmade book.
  • Tuesday: One entry will be selected at random. Not only will that person’s suggestions be used, but the winner will also receive a copy of the book.
  • Wednesday: Worktable Wednesday will be used to show the progress of the book.
  • Saturday: The book will be unveiled.

In addition to there being a winner each week, there will also be a winner at the end of the Book Arts Improv event. Everyone who has posted suggestions for each week will be entered into a drawing (one entry per person, per week). If you have participated in the Improv for more than one week, each week’s post will count as one entry. The winner of the final drawing will win a copy of each of the four books created.

Lesson learned last year:  It’s really hard to complete an edition of books in the span of a week. If you win one week of the Improv, please be patient with me as I work to complete the edition – it may take me a few weeks to get the remaining books done. In the event of a delay, I’ll keep you posted.

Have a great New Year’s and I’ll see you at the Improv!

At last — the event I’ve been looking forward to since last January! A month of fun and inspiration — coming up with suggestions, reading everyone else’s suggestions, and of couse being inspired and amazed by the wonderfully creative way you turn the winning suggestion into a book. Wait… I get a month of fun and inspiration, and you get a month of hard work, making all those wonderful books — is this really fair? I suppose it is, as long as it’s fun for you, too… so stoke up the wit and whimsy, and let the improv begin!

Jill –

You’re so sweet!

Here’s hoping that you win another book this year – but also hoping that everyone else wins too. I’m trying to stay impartial.
