Bookboard-o-rama

Here’s my excitement for today:

Truck backing into my driveway

Yes, there was a big-ass truck in my driveway. The Bookboard Fairy came for a visit!

Bookboard delivery in my driveway

Did you know that the Bookboard Fairy was a dude? I sure didn’t!

I now have a new lawn ornament.

Huge pile of bookboard

Thank you for not raining. Thank you for not raining. Thank you for not raining.

This is what 595 pounds of .088 thickness bookboard looks like – that’s 150 sheets.

Huge pile of bookboard

My last order was 6 years ago. It will be interesting to see how long it takes me to get through this batch.

Now where to put it…

Oh, my! How long will it take you to move it inside?

Claudine –

Not sure how long it will take, but you just made me decide to run a stop watch while I do it. I’ll get back to you. 🙂

What size sheets are these–these look HUGE. I hope that you have a board shearer because that is a lot of book board. I am a geek about this stuff too and I am actually excited for you (as weird as that might sound).

The sheets are 30″ x 41″ and are HUGE, just as you said.

I have a Kutrimmer 1071 and it’s been my best friend for about 3 years. LOVE IT.

I have the same model and absolute could not get by without it. Do you cut the sheets in half and then use the KT or do you cut to size from the big sheets. I just order half sheets from Talas. I don’t know where I would put that much book board in my NYC apartment. If you don’t mind me asking, where did you order your book board from?

Russ –

I have a number of bookboard cut layouts, so how I cut a board depends on what books I’m making. When I made the layouts, I tried to create as little waste as possible. I use the Kutrimmer from start to finish – no hand cuts.

I the board from Rock Tenn.

It looks exciting, but promise you’ll get help to lift it, we don’t want any more hospital pics..

I took lots of trips with 5 sheets at a time. I made a point not to work too hard and took frequent breaks. 🙂

So what do you think? I'd love to know!
