Peek-a-Boo Journal class – Day 1

Last Thursday I had the first of 2 sessions for my Peek-a-Book Journal class at Studio Place Arts in Barre, VT.

Here’s what everyone is working on:

As I’ve mentioned before, I can’t write a post about a class unless I have the obligatory photo of my supplies looking all fresh and sexy:

I developed a list of resources for the class, including general bookbinding websites and places to buy specific supplies. Each copy was handbound. I am a dork.

There are 5 students in my class, which is a nice number. We worked on cutting out spaces in the covers and creating windows with content they selected.

This week we’ll be working on the multi-needle coptic binding. I’m looking forward to seeing the finished books!

Not to worry, Elissa. Other bookbinders – moi included — love photos of “fresh and sexy” tools and supplies. Love the peek-a-book journal.

Clara –

I’ll be posting about the second class within the next few days. The students’ books came out great!

Hi Elissa! I was wondering what one might have to do to get a copy of the resource book you created for the class. Not one of your lovely hand-bound versions (I wouldn’t be that presumptuous), but just an electronic copy I could print out. Hmmm…another cheese glue brush holder, perhaps?

I’m sooo jealous of the people who got to attend. Not only did they get to make beautiful books, they also had access to your reservior of knowledge and skill. I wish I could have attended, but I had scheduling conflicts. I hope you’ll be doing it again. Heck, I’d be willing to help organize the workshop if you’d be willing to do it!

In the meantime, any of that juicy info you’d be willing to share would be much appreciated.

(Pretty please with cheese on top!)

I think I can give you a handbound copy of your very own, no additional brush holder required. 🙂

I still have to write my post about day 2 of the workshop. Wait until you see the finished books!

Oh my gosh…wow…thank you!

(If I had a blog I’d be writing right now about how generous this amazing book artist –Elissa Campbell– is… and I’d probably be admitting that I feel a little star struck around her…)

I can’t wait to see the finished books (though I know I’ll be even more jealous). Talk about you snooze, you lose — I should have just cleared my schedule! I know it would have been a great experience. I’ll just have to look forward to your next workshop. : D

If there’s one thing you should know about me, it’s that I have a hard time accepting compliments. No more please, you’re killing me.

🙂 Elissa

So what do you think? I'd love to know!
