For 2 days over the last week, I visited Fayston Elementary School to teach bookmaking and some beginner art journaling. The 2nd graders were completely adorable and so much fun to work with. We made journals using the pamphlet stitch, which seemed appropriate to their abilities.
You can read about the classes, view the completed books, and see me in action on the Fayston Elementary Art Blog.
I created some posters to show the kids how they could create environments for their writing, instead of writing on an entire page. I also gave them examples of fun ways to use handwriting in a creative way.
I’m sad that my time with the kids is over already!
