My starting point for this week’s book is the brilliant concept of Urban Sprawl National Park. While thinking about it, I was quickly inspired by a concept – Rockland County, New York.
I grew up in Rockland County and over time have grown to dislike the amount of commercial development that has taken place. I did some research and found an article that in 2010, aside from parks, only 10% of land in Rockland County is undeveloped. That’s just sad.
Susan Meyer of the Rockland County Planning Department was quoted as saying,
We never thought it would get this way.
I did have another inspiration, one less depressing – I’ll let the picture do the talking.
The best part about this concept is that by using Rockland County as a theme in my book, I can now submit my book as an entry in the Book Arts Guild of Vermont‘s spring exhibit There’s No Place Like Home.
This is going to be fun. Come back Saturday to see the completed book!
